When gaming is not completely life but sorta

I would like to present to you; my brother and his artistic endeavors. He is talented, articulate, wildly creative and lives for poking the bear that is the gaming community at large on Reddit. A++ entertainment.

Here is the latest video:

This is a perfect (first) post for my gaming category here at The Devious Scribe, as I have some tales to tell about MMORPG past. Some of us know I spent several years of my life depending on pixelated progress and the dopamine hit of completed quests and raids, to keep my extremely troubled mind at ease.

As well as paying his dues and homage to the mental health beast, with well directed videos and self-effacing comments; my brother has been pushing full sobriety for close to three years now and we are all insanely proud.

We love it when people channel their demons through creative hobbies. Sure we get kick ass albums from drugged up and depressed musicians, and fantastic books from alcoholic writers. But lets give a shout out to the people who can distract themselves with sober creativity.

My brother utilizes both streaming and filming his gaming to help keep the brain demons at bay. Which is a very relatable sense of purpose that we share. Some of us truly draw strength and love from the validation of views, and being an engaging (and hopefully hilarious) story teller. These little dopamine hits we get when we can make someone laugh helps keep us entertainers on a better path. Maybe the path leads to some sort of happiness, and also helps us ignore and maybe even work through “the big sad” .

Obviously, this is why I write. It’s a self help experiment where I try to navigate my personal mental health mine field without getting blown up. Also where I attempt to tame the brain demons and toss them random treats, that they take into dark corners and munch on loudly. Or they are just like my cat and only eat the treats they like first, and then vomit out the rest all over the back of the couch.

Please give the videos a watch if you need a laugh, or a glimpse into someone who grew up obsessed with horror movies and would forget he was wearing a Jason Voorhees mask around the house, pretty much like ALL the time.

(Also, here is a video where I am called out for my inflated opinion of manual transmission drivers, and yes I will answer to that. Fight me?)
